Western Electric 181GX, from Hicksville NY. This 10 Cent automatic payphone or paystation appears to have never been put into service. Note the coin deflector behind the shroud housing the #5 dial. Note the swing out bracket for the coin signal bell and gong. The phone which is dated 1948 probably started out with a 5 cent chute and was upgraded to 10 cents. The date on the coin chute is 1952.
